Experience
I worked in pediatrics as a volunteer, playing with and tending to patients up to high school. I helped them do their homework, as well as complete assignments and prepare for tests. I was a volunteer tutor at Fontana Adult School, helping adults prepare and apply for college. I helped them prepare for the SAT and ACT exams, teaching them test-taking strategies to improve their performance on the test. My volunteer work introduced me to students of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles. I have strong communication skills that allow me to explain a complex concept to a student in a way that they can readily understand. I believe that students benefit greatly from personalized instruction that is focused on achieving their goals. I base my teaching style and tools around their interests, helping them build a relevant connection to the material at hand. I encourage my students to build their skills through active learning, often incorporating music and games into the lesson. In my free time, I love to read and write poetry. I spend a lot of time listening to music and creating my own on the piano. I love creative outlets like crafts, baking, art, and drawing.
